What is Reiki?
Reiki was first described to me as "Universal Life Force".
The concept behind the words is in short, the fundamental energy that creates and sustains the universe as a whole.
The life energy is known by many different names:
In Japan it is called Ki, Chi is also another name used in the east.
Tai Chi is all about learning to work with this force.
In the Hindu culture it is known as 'prana'. Whilst Shaman's in Hawaii call it 'mana'.
The Hebrew term is Rauch, and others may call it Numen, Odic force and Orgone.
Whatever you call, define, interpret and also the culture surrounding it, everyone is talking about the same energy.
The life force surrounds us everyday. Not just people, but animals, plants and buildings. It helps to sustain us. It is not 'personal', it is universal.
The basic energy is found in everything. When we heal, we draw the energy from the universe and not our own personal energy, or energy from an animal, plant or object.
